Production Equipment – HUB Assembly

Concept, Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing

Advantis developed custom-designed production equipment for an OEM customer, enabling the assembly of various components at a single workstation using a rotating solution.

The equipment is engineered to handle a HUB weighing up to 250 tons, which is placed onto the fixture by crane. Once secured, the HUB can be rotated up to 360 degrees, allowing multiple operations to be performed from a fixed position—greatly optimizing the production flow.

Advantis managed the entire process: design, engineering, structural calculations, production, and the development and implementation of the complete control system.

Tower Transport Tool

Design, Engineering, and Production of Transport Equipment

In collaboration with SGRE and Vestas, Advantis developed a shared transport solution for handling offshore wind turbine towers weighing up to 300 tons.

The initial design focused on compatibility with all SGRE and Vestas offshore towers and has since been manufactured in over 800 units. Advantis later carried out a retrofit of the equipment, enabling it to handle even larger tower diameters—from Ø4500 mm up to Ø8000 mm.

Advantis was responsible for the entire development process: design, engineering, structural calculations, and production of the equipment.

Coil Gripper

Lifting Equipment for Rebar Coils

Advantis developed a custom lifting tool for handling rebar coils, addressing a challenge where previous equipment frequently damaged the coil bindings—rendering them unusable.

We designed a new structure featuring an integrated mechanical locking mechanism, eliminating the need for electric activation of the lift-and-lock function. This solution prevents damage to the bindings and has completely eliminated material waste during the lifting process.

Advantis managed the full development: design, engineering, strength calculations, and production of the tool.

Work Platform Staircase

Work Platform Staircase for Production

Advantis developed a mobile work staircase for an OEM customer’s production environment, with a strong focus on flexibility, safety, and user-friendliness.

The staircase was designed in compliance with EN 14122 standards and tailored to the customer's specific requirements. It is constructed to be easily moved and locked into place—and can also be handled using a crane.

The solution has since been delivered in multiple units with minor adaptations, and Advantis has gone on to design and produce similar staircases for both the same and new customers. Advantis was responsible for the entire solution: design, engineering, and production.

Magnet Insertion Machine

Automated Magnet Insertion Tool – PLC Controlled

In close collaboration with the customer, Advantis developed a specialized tool for the automated insertion of magnets into generators.

The tool inserts magnets into the slots one by one until the slot is full, after which it automatically moves to the next. The system is servo-driven with a spindle capable of applying up to 2 tons of pressure, controlled via a PLC.

Additionally, two different angle kits were developed, allowing the tool to be used in various production configurations.

Advantis handled the entire development process: design, engineering, structural calculations, programming, and production of the tool.

Equipment – Assembly Process

Production Assembly Equipment

Advantis has developed several custom-designed support tools for use in the customer’s assembly process.

The tools were developed in close collaboration with the customer, with several components required to meet a tolerance of ±0.5 mm. To ensure this, selected tools were 3D-scanned after production as documentation that they met the specified requirements. The tight tolerances also allowed for a reduction in welding, thereby avoiding heat effects on the material.

After a period of operation, the tools were updated with a minor design "facelift" to further refine their functionality.

Advantis was responsible for the design, engineering, and production of the tools.
